What is laser cutting technology?

Laser Cutting is a method for transforming a 2D file into a physical object. This technology can be performed on different materials such as steel, plastic, wood and cardboard. Laser Cutting involves cutting the material with a highly accurate laser that focuses on a small area of material. It can cut it with a thickness up to 10mm. There are different types of lasers which can be pulsed or continuous. At RMD we use continuous laser cutters that can cut all types of materials to produce high quality cutting.

Laser Cutting is possible by creating a 2D vector file. You can create 2D files through vector graphics software. This file provides information to our laser cutter that will cut the chosen material. It is not necessary to have strong skills in design to use Laser Cutting.

The advantages of Laser cutting

Laser cutting is particularly effective in many areas where rapid production is essential. It’s easy to cut accurately in many materials where traditional manufacturing methods are inefficient. Limits and constraints imposed by traditional manufacturing processes are removed through Laser Cutting, which allows freedom of design and quantities. Laser Cutting allows:

  • Very precise work
  • Material saving
  • High speed of realization
  • Cutting on a wide range of materials
  • Ability to cut and engrave
